Tips for iGo 8

    Settings

    • Although you might be eager to start using your iGo 8 software as is, you will be able to use it more efficiently in the future if you take the time to adjust all of the settings beforehand. To get the most out of your device, go into the "Advanced Settings" mode to customize your software to fit your current and anticipated traveling needs.

    Points of Interest (POI)

    • This is one of the best and fastest ways to find something near where you are traveling when you aren't sure of the exact location. For example, if you are looking for a Mexican restaurant within ten miles of your location, you can use the POI function to locate one. You can also add your own POI to the software for places that you frequently visit or want to visit in the future.

    Detour Function

    • Familiarize yourself with the Detour function now to save time later on. This function allows you to find an alternate route when there is a unexpected detour, such as an accident or road construction, even while you are currently en route to your location. Learning how to use this function now can reduce the time it takes to fumble with the software while driving.

    2D Versus 3D Maps

    • A primary function that separates the iGo 8 software from others is the ability to switch between 2D and 3D mapping. You need to decide which version you are more familiar with (unless it is both) and learn how to switch between the two. The 3D mapping feature is a continuously mapping function that provides 3D imaging up to 20 km away while you are driving; the 2D map provides an interface that is more like a traditional map.

    Updates

    • When you sync your iGo 8 software with a computer or mobile device, you may be prompted to install a new update. Do not ignore these messages, as there may be glitches that need to be fixed or new features that can be installed through iGo. You cannot make the most of your iGo 8 if you are not diligent about maintaining your updates.
