How to Eliminate Cigarette Smell from Car Interiors
- 1). Empty out your car's ashtrays. Stop smoking inside the car.
- 2). Clean the interior by vacuuming the interior floors, seats and in between the seat crevices. Machine wash any detachable upholstery units according to the manufacturer's directions. Shampoo and wash detachable carpet flooring with a scrub brush. Clean the dashboard with a dashboard cleaning solution available in automotive stores. Shampoo and wash car seats with car upholstery cleaners. Air-dry the car by opening the doors so that clean air circulates throughout the interior.
- 3). Place a couple of damp saucers on the dashboard, car seats and floors throughout the interior. Place small amounts of dampened, activated carbon charcoal on the saucers. Leave the charcoal inside the car with all the doors and windows shut for at least 12 hours. The longer you leave the charcoal inside the car, the more odor it will absorb.
- 4). Change interior air filters following the manufacturer's directions or have them changed professionally at a car mechanic's shop.
- 5). Leave an air freshener in the car to emit a pleasant scent.
