How to Find Frequently Used Programs on Windows Vista

    • 1). Click the "Start" menu button on your Windows Vista taskbar to open the "Start" menu.

    • 2). Look down the list of programs at the left side of the menu. These are the applications you use most frequently in Windows Vista. If you do not see the program you are looking for, or if the list does not show all the programs you expect to see, you may need to change the Start menu settings.

    • 3). Click "Control Panel" in right column of the "Start" menu. Go to "Appearance and Personalization" and then click "Taskbar and Start Menu." If you do not see the first link because your Control Panel window is set to classic view, simply scroll down to the "Taskbar and Start Menu" icon and double-click it.

    • 4). Click the "Start Menu" tab. Click the "Customize" button.

    • 5). Set the number of shortcuts to display in the box next to "Number of recent programs to display." Click the "OK" button. Vista will now keep in the Start menu a list of shortcuts to the programs you use most often.
