How to Create Hot Spots With iPhones
- 1). Acquire an Internet tethering package from your network service provide for your iPhone contract. This will allow you to share cellular data with other devices through the iPhone.
- 2). Launch the Settings application on the iPhone and select "Personal Hotspot."
- 3). Slide the "Personal Hotspot" switch to "ON." If requested, turn Bluetooth and Wi-Fi on by tapping the relevant popup buttons. If the iPhone's wireless connectivity options are left turned off, you will only be able to use the USB cable to share the Internet connection.
- 4). Press the "Wi-Fi Password" button to set a password that other devices will need to connect to the iPhone. This is an important security measure, especially when using Personal Hotspot in public places.
- 5). Search for nearby Wi-Fi networks on your computer, laptop, iPad or other Wi-Fi-equipped device you want to share the iPhone's Internet connection with. Select your iPhone from the list of nearby networks and enter the iPhone's password to connect. The iPhone will now share its Internet connection over Wi-Fi while the Personal Hotspot is active.
- 6). Enable Bluetooth on your computer, cellphone or other device that you want to share your iPhone's Internet connection with, and search for nearby devices. Tap the iPhone's entry on the search list to pair the two devices. If requested, enter a four-digit PIN on both devices to confirm the connection. The iPhone will now share its Internet connection over Bluetooth while the Personal Hotspot is active.
- 7). Connect the iPhone to your computer or laptop using its USB cable. If the computer does not automatically detect the iPhone as a new network connection, launch its network control panel and select the iPhone from the list of available connections. The iPhone will now share its Internet connection over USB while the Personal Hotspot is active.
