- 1). Click the Windows "Start" button. Type "c:\windows.old" and press "Enter." This opens the Windows 7 backup for your profile.
- 2). Right-click the "Documents and Settings" folder and select "Copy." If you only want to copy one profile, double-click "Documents and Settings" and copy the folder with your profile name.
- 3). Click the Windows "Start" button again and type "c:\documents and settings" and press "Enter." This opens a window with your current profile settings.
- 4). Right-click the white space in the opened window. Select "Paste" to paste your old profile settings to the new Windows installation.
