How to Transfer MIDI Patch Bank Information From Module to Cakewalk

    • 1). Make the proper connections between the devices and software. Plug one end of the MIDI cable into the "MIDI OUT" port on the back of the synth module. Plug the other end of the MIDI cable into your MIDI interface's "MIDI IN" port. Connect the MIDI interface to your computer's USB port with the USB cable.

    • 2). Power on your synth module and access the MIDI bulk dump utility. The location of the MIDI bulk dump option varies by model; it often can be found by pressing the device's "System" or "Utility" buttons, then navigating to the "MIDI Bulk Dump" option screen. Some models contain a "Data Transfer" button for using this feature. Refer to your synth module's manual for specific instructions on how to access this utility.

    • 3). Launch Cakewalk Sonar. Double-click the desktop icon for Sonar to open the program's user interface.

    • 4). Go to "View," "Sys Ex," then select "Edit Bytes" from the list that appears on the pop-up screen.

    • 5). Type "F0 F7" on your computer keyboard, then exit out of the "Edit Bytes" screen. Make sure you press the "0" (zero) key, not the capital "O" when entering the combination of letters and numbers.

    • 6). Click "Receive," select "You start dump on instrument," then click "Yes" when prompted by the "Append to existing bytes?" message. Cakewalk Sonar is now awaiting the MIDI bulk dump from your instrument.

    • 7). Begin the MIDI bulk dump from your synth module. Press "Enter," or "OK," on the instrument while the MIDI bulk dump screen is being displayed. A message will appear on the module's screen when the process has been completed.
