- 1). Press the "Windows" and "F" keys together to launch the Windows Vista search tool.
- 2). Type the name of the music file in the search box you suspect might be duplicated. Windows Vista will display a list of the files that match the name of the music file you entered.
- 3). Click the "Views" button on the toolbar and click "Details" to display more information about the files.
- 4). Scroll down the list and look for music files with matching names and file extensions. When you see matching music files, compare the dates in the "Date Modified" column.
- 5). Launch the files to verify that they are indeed duplicates. If the dates and file extensions match, they are likely duplicate music files.
- 6). Right-click the duplicate music files you want to remove and click "Delete."
