How to Connect a Sony Laptop to TV With No S-Video

    • 1). Connect one end of the VGA cable to the "VGA Input" on the television. In newer model televisions, this port is located either on the back or the side of the TV.

    • 2). Connect the other end of the cable to the VGA port on the side of the Sony laptop. Secure the connection to ensure a good signal flow between the laptop and television.

    • 3). Go to "Start," Control Panel," and then "Appearance and Personalization." This is where you make changes to the functionality of your machine and the way that it operates alongside Windows.

    • 4). Click on "Personalization, then select "Display Settings." This is where you go to make changes as to the configuration of the internal and external displays.

    • 5). Drag the computer screen icons to represent the number that will be used. You should notice that right below the icons is a box that will change depending on which icon you choose. You can also choose whether to extend the monitor onto the external, or to use the external as the primary on this screen.

    • 6). Click "Apply" to save the settings once you have completed the configuration on this screen. You will be asked if you want to keep these new display settings. Click "Yes" if satisfied.
