Instructions for the Replacement of an Inner Sway Bar Bushing

    • 1). Raise the front of the vehicle with the floor jack and support it on jack stands. Place the floor jack directly under the middle of the sway bar. Raise the jack enough to apply some pressure on the center of the sway bar.

    • 2). Loosen the sway bar clamp opposite the side to be replaced, using the appropriate size socket. Do not remove this clamp--just loosen it enough for it to drop slightly when the floor jack is lowered. Remove the clamp on the bushing to be replaced, using the appropriate size socket.

    • 3). Lower the floor jack just enough to allow the sway bar to lower enough to remove the rubber bushing.

    • 4). Install the new bushing. The bushing is split on the bottom. Spread the opening and wrap it around the sway bar with the flat end of the bushing facing up toward the frame.

    • 5). Raise the floor jack to push the sway bar up against the frame. Install the clamp and tighten with the socket. Tighten the opposite side as well. Lower the floor jack.
