How to Set Up a Time-Series Graph in Minitab

    • 1). Set up your data in chronological order. Open Minitab. You will be greeted with a data editor. Enter all your data for a given time series in a single column. If you have more than one time series to plot, put the data for that plot in another column. Note the name of the column at the top. The names all begin with "c" (e.g. "c1," "c2" and so on). Remember the names of the columns that contain data.

    • 2). Open the "Time Series Graphing" menu. At the top, click on "Graph." From the resulting drop-down menu, select "Time Series Plot." The Time Series Graphing menu will display.

    • 3). Choose the appropriate type of time series. If you have only one time series to plot, select "Simple." If you have more than one, select "Multiple." Click "OK" after making your selection. A new dialogue box will appear.

    • 4). Select the data to be graphed. Click on the name of the column that you wish to plot and click "Select." Do this for all the columns containing data if you want to plot multiple time series. Click "OK" when done. Minitab will display your time series graph.
