How Much 3M Window Tint to Install
- By using window tint film to reduce glare, you can save your carpets, drapes, pictures, and furniture from the sun's bleaching damage. As well, it blocks out harmful UV rays. And while reducing summertime heat, it can help reduce your energy bills.
How much window tint film you use is a personal choice. Certainly, a single layer is sufficient for each window, but how many windows you choose to cover will be determined by need and aesthetics. If you only have one side of the house receiving unwanted sunlight, you might consider only covering those windows with the tinting film. For aesthetics, you should cover all the windows on one side so you do not have dark and clear windows visible together. For the house to have an overall similar appearance, you can consider covering all your windows so they'll all look the same.
3M makes more than one type of window film. For a tinted, or darker window, they make Sun Control films. But if you want the same UV protection and glare reduction, you can use their Prestige Series of window film. This line is transparent and won't change the outside appearance of your windows. So if you used the Prestige Series, you could install the film just on those windows that needed it without having to do the other windows nearby for looks.
