How to Stop an Installer

    • 1). Locate the active Installer window on your desktop. Look for a window containing the name of the program that's attempting to install to your system, or a window with a moving solid colored bar running lengthwise across the window with a series of filenames presented as the bar progresses.

    • 2). Look for a "Cancel" button on the Install window. Click on the button to stop the Installer while it's still running.

    • 3). Press the "Ctrl", "Shift", "Esc" keys simultaneously to open the "Windows Task Manager" if there is no cancel button on the Installer window.

    • 4). Click on the "Processes" tab in the Windows Task Manager window. Search the Image Name column for the Installer name. The Installer will be listed under the name of the installing program.

    • 5). Highlight the Installer name by clicking onto it. Press the "End Process" button at the bottom of the window. Click "End process: in the verification window to shut the Installer down and end the installation process.
