How to Replace Computer Power Supply Fans
- 1). Turn off your computer and disconnect all power cables from electrical outlets. Leave the computer off for at least 24 hours. Purchase a power supply fan from a local electronics store or a reputable online business. Lay the computer on a flat, clean surface. Use a Phillips head screwdriver to remove the outside case panel.
- 2). Find your computer's power supply. Locate the fan for the power supply and disconnect the power connectors. Use the Phillips head screwdriver to remove the four screws holding the fan in place. Unsnap the fan from the metal casing and remove it from the computer.
- 3). Install the new power supply fan. Place the fan in the metal casing and press it down into place. Use the Phillips head screwdriver to put in the four screws. Reconnect the power connector to the fan. Connect all the power cables back up to the computer and turn it on. Watch to see if the new power supply fan runs properly. Turn the computer off, then replace the outside case panel and use the screws to fasten it in place.
