How to Downgrade Directx 9 to Directx 8

- 1). Go to the Windows "Start Menu" and click the "Run..." option. Type "control" (without the quotation marks) and press "Enter." This will launch the Windows Control Panel.
- 2). Click the "Add or Remove Programs" option. This will provide a list of all the currently installed programs on the Windows operating system.
- 3). Click the "DirectX 9" option in the list, then click on the "Remove" button. This will uninstall DirectX 9 and revert the operating system to DirectX 8. This earlier version of DirectX is a fundamental component of Windows XP, and as such is pre-installed on the system. Wait for the process to complete.
- 4). Restart your computer.
