How to Determine Windows 98 Service Pack

- 1). Right-click the "My Computer" icon on the desktop and select "Properties" from the context menu.
- 2). Examine the information displayed under the word "System." If the computer has no service pack installed, the version number "4.10.1998" is displayed. If the computer has the Second Edition service pack, the version number is "4.10.2222A." The screen also displays the words "Second Edition." For an alternative method of determining this information, continue to the next step.
- 3). Click the "Start" button, then click "Run." Type the word "command" in the "Run" dialog box and press "Enter."
- 4). Type the command "winver" and press "Enter." A pop-up window appears displaying the Windows 98 version number. Consult the version numbers to determine whether you have Windows 98 or the Second Edition service pack.
