- Your printer may suddenly not be recognized by Windows Vista. This often occurs after the computer is brought out of sleep or hibernation mode. The printer may not operate normally, and the computer displays an error message. If you use an all-in-one machine, the printer may suddenly appear twice in the computer device manager. The first representation of the printer will no longer function.
- Often this problem is caused by a device driver that is missing or that did not install properly. However, some printer models are not supported by Windows Vista. Some users experienced problems with their USB devices after installing an update from Microsoft.
- If the problem occurred during installation of your printer, disconnecting and then reconnecting the printer to the computer can resolve the issue. Update the device drivers by using the printer software or allowing the computer device manager to search for new drivers. Ensure that all the current updates for Windows Vista have been installed on your system.
