How to Fill a HEMI Butane Lighter
- 1). Ensure the butane lighter's flame is not ignited. Turn the lighter upside down so you are looking at the bottom of the lighter.
- 2). Turn the flame adjuster clockwise with a small screwdriver so the flame height is at its lowest setting. This helps ensure the lighter will not accidentally ignite while you fill the tank.
- 3). Press the small screwdriver's tip into the fuel tank intake valve, located next to the flame adjuster. You should hear air escaping; hold the screwdriver in place until you hear no more air escaping. Excess air in the tank will prevent the butane from completely filling the tank.
- 4). Shake the butane gas canister for 10 seconds. Press the stem of the can into the fuel tank intake valve. Allow gas to flow from the canister into the lighter for 10 seconds. This should supply enough butane gas to fill your lighter.
- 5). Hold the lighter between your hands for two minutes to allow the gas to reach room temperature. The lighter will not ignite properly unless the gas is at the proper temperature.
- 6). Readjust the flame height adjuster by turning the dial counterclockwise with the screwdriver until the flame reaches its desired height.
