How to Repair Windows XP When My Computer Doesn't Work

    • 1). Insert your Windows XP CD into your computer and restart the machine. When the computer boots, press the appropriate key to open the boot menu. This key is displayed on the computer screen as the machine is starting up.

    • 2). Press "Enter" at the welcome screen to continue with the XP setup and then press "F8" to agree to the license installation terms and conditions.

    • 3). Select the XP installation you wish to repair by using your arrow keys, then press the "R" key to start the repair process. This process will look similar to an installation process, so don't remove the installation CD or power off the computer until the computer boots into the operating system.
