How to Fix Windows Media Center for Vista

- 1). Start your computer, log into your Windows Vista account and get to the Vista desktop. Click on the Windows logo button in the lower left-hand corner of your desktop to open the "Start" menu.
- 2). Highlight the "All Programs" button in the menu that appears with your cursor. Highlight the "Accessories" folder in the menu that populates to the right.
- 3). Right-click the "Command Prompt" button from the list of programs in the "Accessories" folder. Left-click on the "Run as administrator" option in the menu that pops up. Click the "Continue" button in the dialog box that appears to confirm that you would like to run the "Command Prompt" as an administrator.
- 4). Type "sfc /scannow" into the window that opens and press the "Enter" key on your keyboard to begin a scan for damaged files. Windows will identify damaged files that are causing Windows Media Center to malfunction and attempt to repair them. Open Windows Media Center after the process has completed and repaired these files.
