- 1). Press the "Power" button to turn off the iPod Touch.
- 2). Double-click the iTunes icon on your computer to launch the application.
- 3). Plug the sync cable into the "Sync" port on the base of the iPod Touch and then plug the other end of the cable into an available USB port on your computer.
- 4). Press the "Power" and "Home" buttons down together for 10 seconds and then release the "Power" button and continue holding the "Home" button until the computer beeps. A few seconds after the beep, the iTunes application will detect the iPod Touch device and open the "Restore" window.
- 5). Hold the "Option" key on your computer down and click the "Restore" button in the "Restore" window in the iTunes application.
- 6). Select the desired iOS version (other than iOS 4) from the drop-down menu in the "Restore" window and then click "OK." The iTunes application will run the restore process and downgrade your iPod Touch from the iOS 4 to another operating system.
