- 1). Pull any and all cables from the laptop. Close the cover and turn the DV6000 over so that you can see the underside. Push the battery latch to the left, then remove the battery from the laptop.
- 2). Remove the screw that holds the DVD drive in place. The screw will be located about 4 to 5 inches from the face of the DVD drive, and just a little under and behind the battery latch.
- 3). Place the paperclip into the small hole located on the face of the DVD drive. This will release the drive and the case from the laptop. Pull out on the drive to remove it from the laptop.
- 4). Locate the small metal bracket on the back of the DVD drive. Remove the two small screws that hold the bracket in place, then pull the bracket away from the DVD drive.
