Why Do iPhone Icons Wobble?
- To make the icons on your iPhone wobble, wake the phone by pressing the "Home" button, then slide the arrow on the bottom of your screen from left to right to unlock it. Put your finger on any icon on the home screen, and hold your finger in place for a few seconds until the icons to begin to wobble. To make the icons stop wobbling, press the "Home" button at the bottom of your phone.
- New icons from recently downloaded applications will automatically show up on the last screen of your phone. Since that may not be most convenient place for you to find them, you have the option of rearranging the icons. Once the icons are wobbling, you can move them to different locations on your screen simply by dragging them to a different location. When you place an icon between two icons, all of the icons below the recently moved one will move one space down to make room. You can relocate an icon to a different page by dragging it to the edge of the screen and holding it there until the screen moves to the next page. The four icons across the bottom of your screen -- Phone, Mail, iPod and Safari -- must stay on the bottom bar, but can be rearranged in any order.
- Eventually you may find that an app has outlived its usefulness, or that you never really used it at all. In this case you can easily delete them. Once the icons on your phone are wobbling, you will notice that many of the apps have a black "X" on the top left corner. Tap that "X" to delete the icon. A box will pop up that warns you that you are about to delete the app. Tap "Delete" to delete the icon and the app, or tap "Cancel" to leave the icon on your screen. If an app does not have an "X" in the top left corner when it wobbles, the app is considered a basic part of the OS. Those apps cannot be deleted.
- If you have many apps, your iPhone screen may become difficult to navigate. Create folders to keep similar applications together. Once the icons are wobbling, tap an icon and drop it on top of an different icon to create a folder containing both apps. You can store up to 10 applications in one folder, so you can continue dragging and dropping icons into the folder until it's full.
