How to Set MFT Size

    • 1). Click the green "Start" button and click "Run."

    • 2). Type "regedit" and click on the "OK" button.

    • 3). Select the following registry key from the left-hand menu pane: "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Filesystem" and double-click the "NtfsMftZoneReservation" value in the right-hand menu pane. If your system does not have the file yet, add it by clicking on the "Edit" menu and selecting "New | DWORD Value," and naming it "NtfsMftZoneReservation."

    • 4). Double-click the value that pops up, type the number of the MFT size that you prefer, and click OK. The sizes range from one to four, with "1" designating a system that requires a smaller storage space, and "4" to set the maximum file size.
