How to Fix MBR on XP
- 1). Turn the computer off and then restart it. Select "Recovery Console" from the options in the startup menu. This opens the Recovery Console.
- 2). Type the administrator password at the prompt, and then press "Enter." The Recovery Console will open to a command line.
- 3). Type "fixmbr" at the command line prompt, and then press "Enter." The Recovery Console will repair the MBR. Restart the computer when the prompt states that the repair is complete.
