- 1). Plug your iPhone into your personal computer using your iPhone USB cable.
- 2). Open iTunes on your computer.
- 3). Press the "Power" button and "Home" button on your iPhone for ten seconds. Release the "Power" button. Continue to hold the "Home" button. Your iPhone goes into "DFU," or recovery, mode and is now recognized by iTunes.
- 4). Click the iPhone device in iTunes. Click the "Restore" button located on the "Summary" tab screen.
- 5). Click the "Backup" button if you want to save your iPhone data.
- 6). Click the "Restore" button. When the "Restore" process is complete, your iPhone restarts.
- 7). Open iTunes on your computer. A box appears stating that an iPhone was previously synced to your computer. Choose a backup from the list of options. Click the "Continue" button.
