How to Set Up a Standard VGA Driver
- 1). Download the latest drivers for a computer's video card at the manufacturer's website. Two of the largest video card companies, ATI and Nvidia, provide links to driver downloads on the main page of their websites. It does not hurt the computer to use the video card drivers on the video card's installation disk, but in most cases video card drivers are frequently updated and you want the most up-to-date driver possible to avoid errors, compatibility issues and other problems.
- 2). Double-click the downloaded file obtained from the video card manufacturer. Click "Run" if a Windows prompt warns you about executing a file. Click "Continue Anyway" if a Windows message appears about the driver being unsigned.
- 3). Click "I accept" on the end-user license agreement. Select an installation destination for the video card software using the browse button if the default installation directory is not to your liking. Click "Next" until the installation is complete, then hit "Finish."
- 4). Restart the computer. Note access to all features on the video card, such as all supported resolution, 3-D support and additional graphics features.
