Applications

• By jailbreaking an iPad, you can install applications from third parties. On a regular iPad that has not been jailbroken, these applications are not allowed to be installed.
  
  

Drawbacks

• Since you can basically install anything on a jailbroken iPad, you also run the risk of damaging the iPad. Apple won't be able to let you know which programs may be harmful to your device. Usually, though, you can restore your iPad to the Apple default, reversing any damage you may have caused while the iPad was jailbroken.

• The iPad was jailbroken thanks to a hacker who got into the browser, which allows access to different parts of the iPad.
