How to Unassociate File Extensions in Windows XP
- 1). Right click "Start" and click "Explore."
- 2). Navigate to the folder containing a file with the extension you wish to change.
- 3). Right click the file. Select "Open with."
- 4). Select the new program you wish to associate with the file. Click "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file" to unassociate the file with its former program.
