How to Clean the Black Chrome on My PT Cruiser
- 1). Rinse the black chrome parts on your PT Cruiser that you are going to be cleaning with a hose to dislodge any dirt or debris that may scratch the finish. It is also recommended that the entire car be washed before polishing any chrome parts.
- 2). Wash the chrome parts with a mild cleaner and a clean, terrycloth detailing towel. A good example of a mild cleaner is Simple Green that has been diluted with ten parts water to one part cleaner. Spray the cleaner on the black chrome parts and then gently wipe it off with a detailing towel. If you are cleaning wheels, then use a very soft bristle brush to scrub between the wheel spokes and recesses.
- 3). Polish out any fine scratches with a high quality chrome polish like Mothers, which is safe on black chrome. Apply a small amount to a clean detailing rag and then gently buff the chrome until clean. Use a cotton swab on hard-to-reach areas.
- 4). Wax the black chrome parts on your PT Cruiser with a high-quality wax that is safe for clear coats. Apply the wax with a clean, terrycloth towel, and then buff it out until all of the wax residue is gone.
