How to Change Machine Keys
- 1). Click the Windows "Start" button and select "All Programs." Click "Administrative Tools." In this menu, click "Internet Information Services (IIS)." This opens your IIS console.
- 2). Click the website for which you want to generate the encryption keys. In the list of options in the center of the window, double-click the "Machine Keys" icon. A new dialog window opens.
- 3). Select your encryption type. The standard encryption scheme is SHA1. Select "Auto" and check the box labeled "Generate a unique key for each application."
- 4). Click the "Generate Keys" link on the right side of the window. The "MachineKeys" value in your web.config file for the web project is automatically changed.
