How to Convert Photos to iPod Format

    • 1). Download and install Paint or Paintbrush on your computer. Both programs can be downloaded for free from software websites, or from the operating systems themselves. Once you reach the download prompt, select "Run" and you will be instructed on how to download the program.

    • 2). Locate the photo on your computer that you want to load to your iPod. Photos on computers are often automatically stored in a file within your library titled "Pictures." Also, they can be stored elsewhere manually.

    • 3). Open the photo with either Paint or Paintbrush and access the upper "File" menu in the program. You can open the photo by clicking or right-clicking on the file and selecting the "Open With..." option. From "Open With...," select "Paint."

    • 4). Select "Save As" in the "File" menu.

    • 5). Click the "Save as type" drop-down menu and select a file type that is compatible with the iPod (see References). The most common and accessible file type is JPEG. Files usable on Mac computers include .jpg, .tiff, .pict, .gif, .png, .sgi, .bmp, .psd and .jp2. Files usable on Windows computers include .jpg, .jpeg, .gif, .tiff, .tif, .bmp, .psd, .sgi and .png.

    • 6). Select "Save" and your file will be ready to load to your iPod.
