How to Create Recovery Discs for the Compaq Presario
- 1). Disconnect any external devices from your Compaq computer that are not necessary, such as external hard drives, flash drives, and other devices. The only devices that need to be connected are the keyboard, monitor, power cable and mouse.
- 2). Click the "Start" icon on the Windows 7 taskbar to open the Start menu. Click "All Programs," "Recovery Manager," then click "Recovery Disc Creation." The HP Recovery Disc Creation screen appears. On some models you will need to go an extra step, then click "Create recovery media using blank DVD(s)" to open the HP Recovery Disc Creation screen.
- 3). Click "Next" in the lower-right corner of the window to verify that you want to create a recovery disc set. The next screen that appears displays the number of DVDs that will be required to create the recovery disc set.
- 4). Place the first blank DVD into your computer's optical drive, then click "Next." A screen appears displaying the type of disc you inserted. Click "Next" to verify the information on the screen and begin burning the first disc. The progress of the disc creation is displayed on the screen. The disc will automatically eject when it is finished burning.
- 5). Remove the disc and label it appropriately, such as "Recovery Disc 1."
- 6). Insert, remove and label additional discs as prompted. Click "Finish" in the lower-right corner of the screen after all of the recovery discs in the set have been created to close the HP Recovery Disc Creation program.
