How to Upgrade to Windows 2008
- 1). Insert the Windows Server 2008 install DVD into your DVD drive.
- 2). Click "Install Now" in the pop-up window.
- 3). Click "Go Online to Get the Latest Updates for Installation" to check for updates, or skip this step and check for updates at a later time. Microsoft suggests updating at the time of installation.
- 4). Enter your product key code in the "Product key" box, then click "Next." The product key code is on the packaging.
- 5). Choose "Full Version" from the selection of of installation types, then click "Next."
- 6). Read the "Microsoft Software License Terms," place a check in the "I accept the license terms" box and click "Next" to continue.
- 7). Choose "Custom (Advanced)" from the "Which type of installation do you want?" window.
- 8). Choose a hard disk you want to install to on the "Where do you want to install Windows?" menu.
- 9). Click "Next" to initiate the installation. The process runs without interaction for about 20 minutes.

Press "Ctrl," "Alt" and "Del" upon prompting to log on to Windows 2008. - 11
Click "Other User." - 12
Type "administrator" in the text box and click "Enter." - 13
Click "OK" when prompted by "The user's password must be changed before logging on for the first time." - 14
Enter and confirm a password containing at least seven characters, then click the arrow icon. - 15
Finish the upgrade and confirm the password by clicking "OK."
