How to Convert a Plasma Monitor to a TV

    • 1). Obtain a TV tuner card that is compatible with Windows 7 computers. The tuner must meet the hardware requirements on the PC. Install both the TV tuner and the manufacturer's included TV software, per the provided instructions. This process installs the TV tuner's device drivers, the most important step in getting the Windows operating system to recognize the card. After setup is complete, close any active applications relating to the tuner.

    • 2). Click the circular "Windows" orb logo in the bottom left corner of the desktop (also known as the "Start" button). Type "Windows Media Center" in the search box at the bottom of the "Start" menu. Press "Enter" to open the "Windows Media Center" application on the starting screen.

    • 3). Press the down arrow key on the keyboard to highlight "Tasks." Use the mouse cursor to click on "Settings," "TV" then "Set Up TV Signal." Click "Yes" if a warning message appears on the screen.

    • 4). Follow the instructions that WMC provides on the screen, as the setup process varies based on particular TV tuners. After arriving at the "TV Signal Detection Result" page, look for the TV tuner by its brand name, such as "KWorld" or "Hauppauge." Select "Yes, Configure TV With These Results." Choose "Next."

    • 5). Click the name of your current cable/antenna/satellite TV company on the "TV Signal Provider" screen. Choose "Next." Click "Finish" to complete the process of converting the plasma monitor into a "plasma TV."
