    Stopping XP Antispyware System Processes

    • The first step in removing XP Antispyware from your computer is to stop the spyware processes running in the background. Press "Ctrl," "Alt" and "Delete" on your keyboard at the same time and then select "Task Manager." Now click on the "Processes" tab and select the following processes by clicking on them: "%PROGRAMFILES%\XP_AntiSpyware\XP_AntiSpyware.exe", "XP_AntiSpyware.exe, setup_100527_3_.exe", "setup.exe", "as2008xp.exe", "antispyware-2009.exe", "XPAntispyware2009.exe" and "%profile%\application data\secure solutions\XPAntispyware2009\as2008xp.exe." Click on the "End Process" button and close the Task Manager window.

    Unregistering XP Antispyware DLL Files

    • Once you have stopped the system processes of XP Antispyware you will need to unregister its DLL file. Go to the "Start" menu and click on "Run." Type "cmd" in the search field and click "OK." Now type "regsvr32/u ntdll64.dll" in the command line dialogue window and press "Enter" to unregister the file.

    Removing XP Antispyware Registry Keys

    • XP Antispyware creates a few registry keys during its installation which must be deleted. Click on the "Start" menu and then on "Run." Type "regedit" in the search line and press "Enter" on your keyboard to launch the Windows Registry Editor. Now find and delete the following entries:

      XP_Antispyware

      HKEY_CURRENT_USER\software\secure solutions\XPAntispyware2009\2.1 start counter

      HKEY_CURRENT_USER\software\secure solutions\XPAntispyware2009\2.1 installtime

      HKEY_CURRENT_USER\software\secure solutions\XPAntispyware2009\2.1\config

      HKEY_CURRENT_USER\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\run ieupdate

      HKEY_CURRENT_USER\software\secure solutions\XPAntispyware2009 lid

      HKEY_CURRENT_USER\software\secure solutions\XPAntispyware2009 pid

      HKEY_CURRENT_USER\software\secure solutions\XPAntispyware2009 lgid

    Deleting XP Antispyware Files and Folders

    • The last step in removing the spyware from your computer is to delete all of the files and folders created by it. Go to the "Start" menu again and select "Search." Check the box next to "All Files and Folders" to enable the search of the entire computer, then type "XP_AntiSpyware.lnk" and hit "Enter." Delete all of the found entries and repeat the process for the following: "_scui.cpl", "XP_AntiSpyware.lnk, XP_AntiSpyware.exe", "XP Antispyware 2009", "ntdll64.dll", "setup_100527_3_.exe", "setup.exe", "as2008xp.exe", "antispyware-2009.exe", "XPAntispyware2009.exe", "%profile%\application data\secure solutions\XPAntispyware2009\as2008xp.exe", "%PROGRAMFILES%\XP_AntiSpyware\XP_AntiSpyware.exe" and "XP_Antispyware." Restart your computer after you have deleted the last entry.
