How to Connect Two Monitors in Windows XP Professional

    • 1). Plug both monitors into the computer. Depending on the computer model, you may need VGA cables, DVI cables or S-video cables to plug the monitors into the computer.

    • 2). Click the "Start" menu and select the "Control Panel" option from the right side of menu.

    • 3). Click the "Appearance and Themes" option, then click "Display."

    • 4). Select the "Settings" tab. Click the "Identify" option. You should see monitor icons with large numbers displayed on them.

    • 5). Click and drag the monitor icons so that they represent how you wish to move items between the monitors.

    • 6). Click the monitor you wish to use as the primary monitor. Check the "Use this device as the primary monitor" box.

    • 7). Click the monitor you wish to use as the secondary monitor. Check the "Extend my Windows desktop onto this monitor" box.

    • 8). Click "OK" or "Apply" to save the setup.
