How to Replace Honda C-RV Brake Pads
- 1). Break the wheel lug nuts loose with a tire wrench by turning them counterclockwise 30 degrees.
- 2). Put the CR-V onto jack stands. Lift up on the front and rear crossmembers and place jack stands under the front and rear jack stand points located under the front and rear doors. Lower the CR-V onto the stands.
- 3). Remove the wheel lug nuts and pull the wheel off the wheel hub.
- 4). Unbolt the caliper pin bolt located on the bottom of the caliper.
- 5). Press the caliper piston back into the caliper housing so the new brake pads will fit. Place the C-clamp over the caliper housing. The screw-end of the clamp sits against the outboard brake pad and the fixed arm grabs the back of the caliper. Tighten the clamp and force the brake caliper piston into the caliper assembly.
- 6). Remove the upper and lower caliper mounting bolts and remove the brake disc.
- 7). Open the caliper bracket from the bottom and remove the old brake pads.
- 8). Insert new brake pads.
- 9). Spray the brake assembly with brake parts cleaner to remove any oil or debris.
