How to Reset the Combination Lock on an iPod

    Reset Combination

    • 1). Highlight the "Extras" option on the iPod menu and press the iPod's center button to select it. Scroll down to the "Screen Lock" option and press the center button to select it.

    • 2). Highlight the "Reset" option and press the center button to select it. Use the iPod's click wheel to enter the current iPod combination.

    • 3). Use the iPod's click wheel to enter the new combination when prompted. Enter the new combination a second time to confirm the combination. Once the combination has been entered a second time, the combination will be reset to the new combination.

    Restore iPod

    • 1). Connect the iPod to the computer with the USB connection cable, and launch the iTunes application.

    • 2). Click on the iPod under the "Devices" heading in the iTunes window. Click the "Summary" tab to view a summary of the iPod device.

    • 3). Click the "Restore" button in the Summary window to restore the iPod to factory settings. This will erase all the data stored on the iPod and will reset and remove the combination lock from the device. Allow several minutes for the restoration process to finish.

    • 4). Follow the on-screen setup instructions to set up your freshly restored iPod. After you are finished with the setup process, disconnect the iPod from the computer. At this point, you may set a new combination password by clicking the "Extras" option, followed by the "Screen Lock" option on the iPod device.
