- 1). Turn off your iPod and insert the tip of your case opener tool in the gap where the front half of the unit meets the back half.
- 2). Work your way around the sides of the iPod, releasing the internal locking latches as you go, until the two halves separate.
- 3). Disconnect the orange cable that runs from the back half of the iPod to the board in the front half. Set the back half of the iPod aside. Notice the large square hard drive in the front half of the iPod.
- 4). Lift the hard drive up from the top and unplug the drive ribbon cable from its port at the bottom of the circuit board.
- 5). Plug your CompactFlash card into your Ziff adapter and place the adapter in the hard drive space.
- 6). Connect the adapter ribbon cable to the port in the board.
- 7). Connect the ribbon cable from the back half of the iPod to the front and fit the two halves of the iPod together. Press the sides and corners until the two halves lock securely in place.
