How to Make a Customized iPod 2G Work Through a Mac
- 1). Download and install the latest version of iTunes (see Resources). After your download has finished, click "Finder" in your toolbar at the bottom of your screen. Click the name of your computer in the sidebar of the Finder window, then double-click the folder marked "Downloads." Double-click the iTunes icon, and this will engage the iTunes autorun program, which will install and/or upgrade your iTunes installation to the newest version.
- 2). Connect your iPod to your computer using its provided USB cable. ITunes should open automatically, but if it does not, double-click its icon in your toolbar.
- 3). Click the name of your iPod in the sidebar of iTunes. This will display the "Summary" tab for your iPod in the main window of iTunes.
- 4). Click "Restore."
- 5). Input your administrator's name and password in the dialogue box that appears, then click "OK."
- 6). Click "Leave iPod connected to computer to complete restore" when iTunes prompts you.
- 7). Wait for the restore to finish. Under no circumstance should you disconnect your iPod during this process.
- 8). Name your iPod and choose your syncing preferences when the iPod Setup Assistance appears and asks you. After you have done this, your iPod should function with your Mac.
