How to Repair a Sony Vaio K25 Power Board

    • 1). Power down your laptop through the operating system. Unplug the AC power cable from the nearest electrical outlet, and from the socket on your laptop. Close the display panel, and place the laptop face down with the front edge facing you.

    • 2). Slide the battery release lever upward, and then pull the battery pack from its slot in the lower-left corner of the laptop. Flip the laptop over, and pull open the display panel as far as possible.

    • 3). Insert a small, flathead screwdriver into the right side of the keyboard bezel. The keyboard bezel is the plastic piece above the keyboard assembly. The keyboard bezel houses all power and control buttons that perform everything from powering on your computer to adjusting your LCD screen's resolution.

    • 4). Begin to pry the bezel from the laptop starting from the right side. Work your way to the opposite side of the laptop until the bezel is completely separated from the laptop's casing. Lift the bezel out of the laptop slightly, and place it face down on the laptop's surface. The power board is fastened to the bottom side of the keyboard bezel.

    • 5). Disconnect the power board's cable from the connector on the motherboard. Then disconnect the two black and red speaker cables from the button board. Remove the two Phillips-head screws fastening the power board to the keyboard bezel. Remove the power board from the bezel, and throw it away.

    • 6). Repeat this procedure in reverse to replace the power button board, and reassemble your laptop.
