Reinstalling a Rooted Nook Color

    • 1). Remove the Nook Color microSD card. Insert the card into a card reader attached to your computer. Click Start. Click Computer.

    • 2). Double-click the SD card in the drive window. Save elsewhere any data that you don't want to lose, as you'll need to format the SD card. Go back to the main Computer window and right-click the SD card. Click Format. Click FAT32 in the file system options and click Start.

    • 3). Download the bootable Clockwork image from the XDA Developers forum. Open WinImage. If you don't have WinImage, you can use another SD image writing software such as Win32 Disk Imager or the Universal USB Installer. Select the Clockwork image as the image source. Set your SD card as the destination drive and click "Write."

    • 4). Download the Manual-Nooter installation package from the XDA Developer forums or Nooter's Googlecode.com page. Copy and paste this ZIP file into the SD card's root directory.

    • 5). Shut down the Nook Color and ensure it is not connected to the computer. Insert the microSD card into the Nook. Connect your Nook to the computer to force it to boot up.

    • 6). Navigate the on-screen options with your "Volume Up" and "Volume Down" buttons. Go to Install zip from SDcard and press "N." Select Choose zip from SDcard, and press "N." Select the Manual-Nooter ZIP file from the selection on your screen and press "N."

    • 7). Choose Yes to confirm the Manual-Nooter process. The rooting process may take some time to complete, but once it's done you'll have your root access reinstalled on the Nook.
