How to Make a Keychain With Letter Bead

  • 1). Purchase or collect materials and tools. Beading and hobby stores will likely carry everything you need. Online vendors may offer better pricing if you are purchasing enough beads to make multiple key chains.

  • 2). Assemble all of your tools and materials. Set out your pliers, key ring, wire and beads on a clean dry surface.

  • 3). Cut a piece of wire for the desired length of the key chain. Twelve inches is a good length for letter beads, as you can add multiple letters to create a name or initials.

  • 4). Add a crimp bead to the wire and bend the wire around the bead, folding it so it doubles back about an inch. Crimp the bead using your crimping tool. This will secure the bead to the wire. Cut the wire stemming from the bead with your wire cutters.

  • 5). Add the beads and letter bead(s) to the wire in the order you would like them to read. The letter bead may be positioned at the top of the key chain, in the middle or at the bottom. Try different positions until you find the one that suits your aesthetic.

  • 6). Add a crimp bead to the key chain and wrap the wire around the key ring and back through the crimp bead. Pull the wire with the pliers until there is no wire above the crimp bead. Crimp the bead with the crimping tool. Cut any excess wire with wire cutters.
