- 1). Break the purchased soap into cubes and place in the glass measuring cup. Microwave until melted, stirring often. The soap will be in liquid form when melted.
- 2). While hot, add essential oils or fragrances, dyes and any other additions (exfoliating items). Stir carefully.
- 3). Pour into desired soap molds. This is a good place to experiment with colors and textures. If you want to create layered soaps, pour a small amount of soap (with colors, fragrances and/or extra items) into the mold and let them sit for around 10 minutes (they will be soft to the touch, but not entirely firm. Make another batch with different colors, fragrances or extra items and layer on top of the first layer. You can always re-heat soap that has cooled, so don't worry about setting some hot soap aside while layering.
- 4). Once the mold is full, set aside until cooled and hardened (about 30 minutes). Remove soaps by pushing on backsides of molds.
