How do I Reset the iPhone?
- 1). Plug your iPhone into your computer using the included data transfer cable. Launch iTunes.
- 2). Select your iPhone from the "Devices" menu in the left sidebar of iTunes. Select the "Summary" tab in the upper-left corner of the main iTunes panel.
- 3). Click the "Restore" button, located in the section labeled "Version." If you want to back-up your settings before restoring your iPhone, click "Back Up" when prompted. Otherwise, click "Don't Back Up." This will not preserve any of the media files on your iPhone. A dialog will appear reading "Are you sure you want to restore the iPhone to its factory settings?" Click "Restore." Another dialog will appear once the iPhone has been restored. You may use other programs during this process, but do not close iTunes. After the restore, leave your iPhone plugged in until an "iPhone is activated" message appears on its screen.
- 4). Return to iTunes. A screen will appear reading "Set up your phone." If you want to restore your phone to a previous back-up, select the back-up from the drop-down menu. If you want to return it to factory settings, select "Set up as a new iPhone." Click "Continue" to complete the restoration.
