If you are throwing a pool party or just enjoying a day tanning by your pool, then it is likely that you will want to listen to music. Unfortunately, audio equipment is typically not waterproof and can easily be broken if used near a pool. The slightest bit of moisture can ruin an iPod or other audio hardware. Luckily, there are several tips to help you make the most of your iPod when you are using it by the pool. - To avoid any chance of electrocution, buy an iPod speaker dock that is battery-powered and will play songs when connected to your specific generation iPod. Position the speakers away from the pool to avoid contact with water. Speaker systems with remote controls are even better for convenient hands-free control of your iPod.
- Purchase a remote control for your iPod. Apple and other companies offer remote controls that allow you to control your iPod from distances of up to 30 feet. Using a remote will help you avoid getting the iPod or speaker electronics wet and possibly ruining your devices.
- Use a protective case for your iPod if you plan on using it near the pool. Special waterproof cases can be purchased that allow you to get your iPod wet or even swim underwater with it. You can also purchase waterproof earbuds that will not break when you are listening to your iPod in the pool.
