How do I Speed Up a Computer With Windows XP?

    Disable Indexing

    • 1). Click "Start" then click "My Computer."

    • 2). Right-click the icon that represents your hard drive then click "Properties."

    • 3). Locate the "Allow Indexing Service" entry and click within the checkbox next to it so that it is clear. Click "OK."

    Configure Display Settings

    • 1). Click "Start" then click "Control Panel."

    • 2). Click "System" then click the "Advanced" tab when the new window opens.

    • 3). Click the tab entitled "Performance" then click "Settings."

    • 4). Disable Windows XP's visual effects by clicking within the checkboxes next to their names. Click "OK" to finish.
