How to Put a Password on a Folder in Windows

    • 1). Right-click the folder you want to password protect and select "Properties." Click the "Advanced" button to open a new window.

    • 2). Select "Encrypt contents to secure data." Click the "Apply" button and click "OK" to close the properties window.

    • 3). Log off of the machine and log in with a different user name to test the new settings. Double-click the folder you password protected. Windows prompts you for a password. This ensures that your folder is encrypted and protected from unauthorized access.
