- Access the system registry in order to change the computer owner name. Go to the "Start" menu and click on "Run." Type "regedit" and click on "OK" to start the Windows Registry Editor utility. Navigate to the following key:
Locate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\Current Version
Click on "Current Version" and then double-click the "RegisteredOwner" or "RegisteredOrganization" value in the right pane of the Registry Editor. Type the new name in the "Value data" field and click on "OK." Close the Registry Editor and restart your computer. - To check whether the registered owner's name has been changed go to the "Start" menu and right-click "My Computer" icon. Click on "Properties" and select the "General" tab. The new computer name will be under "Registered to:."
