How to Grow a Daffodil Bulb in a Bulb Vase

    • 1). Fill the lower chamber of the bulb vase with water until it is about 1/4-inch from the top of the lower chamber.

    • 2). Put the daffodil bulb in the top chamber of the bulb vase with the bulb's wider, flat end pointing downward. The point of the bulb should be facing upwards. Check to ensure that no part of the bulb is actually touching the water in the lower chamber.

    • 3). Place the bulb vase in a dark, cool place where the bulb will not freeze, preferably where the temperature is below 50 degrees Fahrenheit. Leave the bulb vase in this place for four to eight weeks.

    • 4). Check the water level on a regular basis, and refill the lower chamber of the bulb vase if necessary. Do not move the bulb vase into a warm, light area to refill it. Make sure that the daffodil bulb is still not touching the water. However, the growing roots will extend down into the water in the lower chamber.

    • 5). Examine the bulb for the development of a root system. Examine the top of the daffodil bulb for any signs of it starting to extend upward. Move the bulb vase into a sunny spot once the root system has developed and the top of the bulb has extended upward. The daffodil bulb will begin to bloom once it has been placed in the sun.
